FAQs – Renting a Personal Starlink Kit

FAQ — Starlink Rental Sask (updated July 2026)

Where do I pick up the kit?

Pickup and return near downtown Saskatoon, SK (in Westmount neighborhood). We'll arrange exact details as your date approaches. We'll send the exact address once your booking is confirmed. We don't publish it because it's a home-based business.

What's required to use Starlink?

  1. Power — one standard electrical outlet to power the dish. The Mini uses very little power and also runs great off a portable power station for off-grid use.
  2. A clear, unobstructed view of the southern sky where the dish is placed.

How much does it cost to rent a Starlink kit?

Simple, transparent pricing with unlimited data. All prices + tax.

Starlink Mini Starlink Gen 2
Daily rate (3-day minimum) $38/day $34/day
One week $179 $165
Two weeks $299 $275
One month $475 $450

A few things to know:

  • July & August: 5-day minimum rental — summer books out fast.
  • November–March: ask about our $330/month winter rate — perfect for ice-fishing shacks, job sites, and extended stays.
  • Every rental requires a $300 damage deposit, fully refunded when the kit comes back.
  • Damage Protection (optional) — $6/day. Covers accidental damage — cracked dish, chewed cable, weather mishaps — so your deposit comes back even if the gear doesn't come back perfect. Doesn't cover loss or theft.

Which dish should I choose?

  • Starlink Mini — the take-anywhere option. Fits in a backpack, sets up in minutes, and can run off a portable power station. Best for camping, paddling, hunting, and true off-grid trips.
  • Starlink Gen 2 — the basecamp workhorse and our best value. Full-size dish with a wifi router, ideal for the cabin, acreage, or job-site trailer where an outlet is handy.

What does the rental include?

  • Starlink Mini: dish (wifi built in), power cable, and a case. Unlimited data at roughly 60–120 Mbps (estimate).
  • Starlink Gen 2: dish, wifi router, data cable, power cable, and a sturdy travel case/backpack. Unlimited data at roughly 80–180 Mbps (estimate).

Does Starlink work in the cold?

Yes — the dish operates down to −30°C. (That's why we offer the winter monthly rate!)

My cabin, which is located in the middle of the forest without cellular service, was hit by the wildfires this summer. Starlink Rental Sask helped me keep in contact when I went to appraise the damage. I highly recommend their services, and I really appreciate their efforts to help me out.

Wanted to be able to work on my laptop In a poor service area. Was a last minute idea. Thought maybe I would be able to rent a starlink somewhere and low and behold Starlink Rental Sask had exactly what I needed. Very easy to book your time as well as setting up and taking down. Joshua was great to deal with the entire way through. Will definitely use this service in the future!

Everything was great right from pickup to return. I was able to make teams calls right from my campsite with no interruptions. Came in a nice backpack style case. Will be renting again this winter!
